Punk Rock Pillow Fight

If you’re an aggressive person but don’t actually want to hurt anybody (or go to jail), you’ll love Punk Rock Pillow Fight. Brooklyn photographer Andrew K. Thompson got the idea two years ago when he invited some friends over to jump around with pillows on his old mattress. Now he’s had three PRPF nights, where participants dress in costumes (mandatory if you want to fight, so as to discourage real violence) and hit each other with pillows until someone falls to their knees or the time runs out—in the latter case the ref and the audience decide the winner. It’s good clean fun that gets the endorphins flowing and the feathers flying. The next one will likely be May 24; check his Website closer to the date for details.

Competition breeds the best. If only one pizzeria existed in New York, of course, there’d be no real winning slice. Thankfully, we’ll never know what that sorry situation tastes like, since pizza—like dance parties, dog runs, and fried chicken—has to evolve upward here.
