You may not find the hippest clothing here, but with three stores under one roof, this maternity mini-mall has convenience and range of prices going for it. On the main floor, Pea in the Pod sells $265 blazers and $100 tops by Velvet, and Mimi Maternity (second floor) offers more reasonably priced wares: sweaters for $66, sundresses for $78, and Mavi pregnancy jeans. Motherhood Maternity is the company’s bargain brand, with clothing that’s somewhere between Wal-Mart and Target in terms of quality ($16 shirts, for example). It scores on amenities, too: There’s a spa and a play area to keep children amused while you shop.
Best Maternity Clothes
From the 2007 Best of New York issue of New York Magazine
Competition breeds the best. If only one pizzeria existed in New York, of course, there’d be no real winning slice. Thankfully, we’ll never know what that sorry situation tastes like, since pizza—like dance parties, dog runs, and fried chicken—has to evolve upward here.
