ADAM

The Label

In the beginning, adam+eve was all basics: supersoft cotton tees and no-nonsense innerwear that were instant hits with the fashion crowd. Designer Adam Lippes built his collection from the inside out, upping the offerings a little at a time with a few cashmere sweaters here, some linen pants there. Four seasons in, he broke out with a full men's and women's contemporary sportswear line that was a perfect mix of polished preppy with an edge.

The Look

Youthful day and evening looks—some with bold prints, others with a little sparkle—can be uptown luxe and downtown cool.

The Designer

Lippes has quite the American sportswear pedigree. He took his first fashion job at Polo/Ralph Lauren and followed it with seven years at Oscar de la Renta, where he served as creative director before branching out on his own in 2004.
