Behnaz Sarafpour

The Label

Behnaz Sarafpour launched her line in 2001. Unwavering support from fashion top dogs, including Vogue's Anna Wintour and Barneys VP Merchandising Julie Gilhart, has ensured her place among New York's new guard, which includes Zac Posen, Derek Lam, and Proenza Schouler.

The Look

Simple cuts and fabrics, lots of black punctuated with bursts of color, men’s fabrics softened or made youthful with belting or banding, streamlined coordinated separates, and occasional gold threading and accessories. Editors love her signature coats and dresses.

The Designer

Iranian-born Sarafpour started working for Anne Klein before she even graduated from Parsons School of Design. While with Klein, she worked with the likes of Narciso Rodriguez, Louis Dell'Olio, and Richard Tyler before moving over to a position with Isaac Mizrahi, who she has described as her mentor. Sarafpour designed for Barney’s private label before finally launching her own line.
