Designer Carmen Marc Valvo is known for unique and unusual detailing and describes his design philosophy as "eveningwear that is modern and sensitive to comfort." Valvo's father, a doctor, wanted him to use his artistic talent to become a plastic surgeon, but after working in an emergency room one summer, Valvo decided the medical field wasn't for him. Valvo's professional career began as a ready-to-wear designer for Nina Ricci in Paris and was followed by stint at Christian Dior. Valvo then launched his own label in 1989. His collection has a reputation as a reliable resource for beautiful yet accessible eveningwear. Celebrities such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lucy Liu, Vanessa Williams and Goldie Hawn are just a few of the women who are glad he focused his talents on sophisticated eveningwear rather than rhinoplasty.
