Costello Tagliapietra

The Label

Costello Tagliapietra premiered its line in New York for the spring 2005 collections. The label won rave reviews all-round and they won the 2005 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award for the ensuing fall collection. The designs also made the cut for an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, showcasing military-inspired fashion.

The Look

Beautifully tailored dresses, constructed jackets, and coats in muted tones, plus an attention to detail both inside and out, with a focus on the draping of fabric that’s finished with bound edges and French seams.

The Designer

Jeffrey Costello started by designing clothing for actresses and musicians, then met up with partner, native New Yorker, and Parsons alum, Robert Tagliapietra; together they founded Costello Tagliapietra. Both were taught the art of tailoring by their grandmothers, who, coincidentally, had both worked for Norman Norell in the 1960s.
