Iisli

The Label

There can never be too many knits in the world of fashion. If you create them, they will buy, as the husband-and-wife duo behind Iisli learned when they debuted their collection in 2003. While it isn’t a household name, the brand has earned a cult following among both the town and country set, who look to Iisli for comfortable, but structured, pieces, with a touch of sass.

The Look

It’s all about tailored cotton cashmere knitwear. No more baggy, hide-your-body styles—think printed leggings with long tanks and camisoles, luxuriously roomy “boyfriend” sweaters, and their now trademark knit jackets that look like blazers but are a lot more comfortable. A bonus: they design all the fabrics themselves, from Italian-made yarns.

The Designer

Both are originally from China. Sisi Li, a former choreographer and style consultant for Warner Brothers Music and Sony Music, is the creative voice for the brand. Nelson Li earned his stripes in Italy as a freelance design consultant for brands and textile firms including Ermenegildo Zegna and Filpucci, and acts as the architect of the collection.
