Luca Luca

The Label

Glimmery, girly dresses with fluttery accents and flirty colors dominate Luca Luca's collection, which is created by designer Luca Orlandi. Notable for Orlandi’s use of rich colors and delicate constructions, Luca Luca clothes are sweet without being precious or inappropriately young. Though the line is best-loved for its elaborately stitched eveningwear (often featuring hand-done embroidery or painted silk fabric), it also offers a bold selection of separates appropriate for the office, but still boasting the designer’s trademark colors and details. Small, come-hither touches like lace necklines or tiny black roses embroidered down the seam of a skirt are also the norm.

The Look

Dresses in sexy shapes and Crayola Big Box colors; separates so bold, you'll be brave enough to ask for a raise.

The Designer

Luca Orlandi may be best known in fashion circles as a consummate flirt, but he's also an established designer. After training in his native Milan, Orlandi created his first women's line in 1992 after moving to New York City; he soon attracted buyers from major department stores like Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus, as well as a celebrity fan base. While Orlandi's clothes often resemble costumes from classic Italian films, the designer insists his main inspiration comes from abstract art exploring the female form. After reportedly dating Naomi Campbell, Orlandi married Nigerian model Oluchi Onweagba in August 2005 on St. Barth's.
