Milly

The Label

Milly launched in 2000.

The Look

Sexy feminine pieces, simple silhouettes in printed fabrics with plenty of pop, and easy-to-wear knits and separates with embroidery and embellishments.

The Designer

Michelle Smith earned an art school scholarship to study fashion illustration, and then did a stint at the Fashion Institute of Technology before taking a part-time job with Hermés. She was the first American employee sent to Paris to work at Hermes—a letter was sent to the president of the company, personally requesting that she go to Paris. And once in Paris, she studied at design school, ESMOD, and worked internships at Louis Vuitton, Torrente, and Christian Dior Haute Couture.

Who Wears It

Her easy designs appeal to fun-loving girls like Jessica Simpson, Kristen Davis, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Cameron Diaz.
