Peter Som

The Label

Peter Som may have been touted as the next Michael Kors in the earlier part of his career, but the young designer has quickly established his own, distinct aesthetic. Since its spring 2001 debut, the label has been celebrated by industry leaders, winning Som numerous accolades, including consecutive nominations for the CFDA’s prestigious Swarovski Perry Ellis award and a finalist spot for the Vogue/CFDA fashion fund. Som has also been anointed by a diverse red-carpet set, with fans like Princess Olga of Greece, Nathalie Portman, and Amanda Peet.

The Look

Clean, fuss-free American sportswear that resides on this side of pretty.

The Designer

This San Francisco native, the son of two architects, knew he wanted to be a designer when he was still in grade school. While at Parsons the New School of Design, he interned with American legends Calvin Klein and Michael Kors, apprenticeships that served him well later at Bill Blass and Emanuel Ungaro.
