Amir Slama's chic, eye-catching designs elevate the bathing suit to high fashion status. Bright colors, splashy patterns, and dramatic cut-outs embody the exotic and playful spirit of the designers' native Brazil. Adored by jet-setters, fashionistas, and hip hop moguls alike, Slama won Brazil's Best Designer of the Year award in 2002. Model Naomi Campbell befriended Slama after a visit to his Sao Paulo shop and has since modeled for his runway collections. His women's suits range from sleek one pieces to a wide range of two-piece wonders that you can mix and match to your best advantage (think everything from boy-cut bottoms to barely-there string bikinis). The men's collection features boy shorts, trunks and skimpier European cuts (one displays a prominently placed cartoon character). Aware that his most revealing suits may require special grooming, Slama included a do-it-yourself Brazilian waxing kit with his 2003 show invites.
