(1.) The Buddha
The statue is from Bali, as is the wooden ladder holding Karan’s collection of shawls and textiles.
(2.) The tub
It’s seven feet long, and the plumbing was increased so
it would fill faster.
(3.) The platform
It’s made of crosscut white travertine treated with a clear resin. Karan’s architects, Bonetti/Kozerski Studio, designed it as an extension of the apartment’s wraparound terrace.
(4.) The outdoors
A door at the end
of the bath leads
to the terrace; at the other end (not visible) is a shower that
can become a steam room when a glass partition is closed.
