Located on a nondescript stretch of Broome Street, Barrio Chino (which means "Chinese 'hood" in Spanish) is a perfect fit for a particular part of the Lower East Side where the Chinese and Latino communities intersect. The decor incorporates Asian accents like colorful hanging paper lanterns and Chinese portraits in an airy space with exposed brick walls, dark wood bar, and open shelves filled with tequila. The agave liquor is the main draw here; they've got 50 kinds, and each shot comes with a peppery sangrita chaser. If it's a mixed drink you want, choose from a list of house specials, including a fruity, red sangria, and three varieties of caipirinha. Need something to absorb all that hooch? Try one of the "antojitos," or appetizers, cooked on the spot in a little side kitchen.
ExtraChino's infused tequilas are a must. For a delicious kick, try jalapeño or habanero-infused tequilas with your favorite flavored margarita.
On Thursday nights at this comedy venue, $7 gets you no less than four shows, pizza is free, and beer is a buck.
