Review
It’s tough to dissect the layers of awesomeness surrounding this movie, but we’ll venture to try. It’s a concert film covering Lou Reed’s first-ever live performances of his album Berlin at St. Ann’s Warehouse in December 2006. But director Julian Schnabel (who designed the sets for the concerts) elevates the piece to a work of art in and of itself, paying tribute to both his longtime friend and one of his favorite albums of all time. Finally, there is the revelatory performance. Suffice to say, it redeems an album that was originally a commercial failure.
