Profile
This compact Pan-Asian spot solidly represents several Far Eastern cuisines. Chef-owners J.J. and Richard Lin are from Shanghai, and their traditional Chinese dishes—dim-sum dumplings, crispy duck, retro fried rice and lo mein—prove as on the mark as anything you'll find in Chinatown. Richard spent years studying sushi-making so the restaurant emphasizes deftly made rolls, pieces, and platters that often break the rules and are all the more fun because of that. Fusion-style fixings add tropical flair; that zesty mystery ingredient could be jícama, jalapeño, mango, or even coconut. Entrées allow J.J., the kitchen chef, to flaunt her French Culinary Institute diploma in East-West presentations such as a wok-seared tuna atop mesclun and a miso-glazed salmon with baby vegetables.
Recommended DishesWhite-tuna tataki, $9.95; crispy duck salad, $7.95; chef’s special sushi rolls, $6.95-$14.95; wok-seared blackened tuna, $17
