Profile
With a full line of shoes and housewares Kate Spade has come a long way since her namesake collection of nylon handbag basics in 1993. With elegant dark wood floors, mod-midcentury couches and color-coordinated flower arrangements, the flagship store could easily pass for the spacious sitting room of a well-appointed Upper East Side townhouse. In the back area, check out the designer’s display of dazzling flats, kitten heels, and wedges, including a small selection of white satin footwear for brides. In the main room, browse Spade’s signature totes and handbags, like the swank, metallic Del Mar style or the ladylike Sutton. The store also stocks beach towels and home accessories.

While the rest of the city scurries up and down Broadway, these three micro–shopping districts remain blissfully unpicked-over.
