Profile
This venue is closed.
The front area of Luna Lounge is undistinguished, save for its popular Foosball table. A few couches stand near the door and the narrow strip by the bar is lined with chrome stools and a heterogeneous crowd. Drinkers young and old, neighborhood hipsters who want a quiet beer and New Jersey visitors in search of a wild urban time congregate in this low-key Ludlow haunt. What ultimately sets Luna Lounge apart from other bars on the strip is its back room, or, more precisely, what goes on in its back room. Live indie rock bands perform there almost every night; the quality of the music varies, but it's often good and always free. And on Monday nights, the stage plays host to Eating It, the deservedly well-known alternative comedy showcase, where eight bucks gets you a free drink and a lot of literate laughs with jokesters like Todd Barry, Marc Maron and Janeane Garofalo.
