Amy Sacco's Lot 61 was once famous for incorporating artwork by big shots like Damien Hirst and Rudolph Stingel into its futuroglam design. The trendy art is now gone though, and, for the most part, so are the celebs. The space is still formidably cool-looking—chrome tables, a soaring ceiling, and mirrored hemispheres lining the walls make you want to dance. It's not happening, though, despite the fact that most of the DJs who come through Lot 61 are highly competent. So are the bartenders, who manage to mix a pretty good martini under a lot of pressure. Just be prepared to fight through a mean rabble of disposable camera–toting sorority girls to get to the bar (which might have been nicked from the set of a Nine Inch Nails video). Luckily, Wednesdays are reserved for private events, which is the best way to enjoy this bar. You get all of the hot decor with none of the lame scene, and nobody can stop you from dancing.
