Profile
Opened in 1998 by former Barocco stalwarts Daniel Emerman and Alessandro Prosperi, Bottino became an immediate hit with the burgeoning far west Chelsea art scene, not coincidentally due to its partnership with nearby Barbara Gladstone, Matthew Marks and Metro Pictures galleries. Expect moderately priced standard upscale Italian fare, including a roast rack of lamb with rosemary and garlic that’s simple and succulent enough not to distract from the art-world gossip that flits unbidden through the crowded dining room and front bar at all hours. The place to haunt for whispers of all the latest deals—did Cindy Sherman really command two mil for that?
Recommended DishesRoast rack of lamb with rosemary and garlic, $30; grilled Norwegian salmon, $20
