The name evokes fire escapes and bad plumbing. But with its self-described "dressed-up comfort food" menu, this restaurant-lounge has slightly upscale ambitions. The potato pancakes and pierogies make reference to immigrants past; the decor does the same, with reproduced Victorian-era wallpaper and framed Berenice Abbott black-and-whites.
