Profile

Since most nights of the week you can barely shoehorn another body into Atlantic Avenue's superpopular Last Exit bar, the arrival of Magnetic Field across the street is a welcome addition to the Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill bar scene. Little has been done cosmetically to the space that used to be the gay bar Friends Tavern, but a vague cowboy motif has been laid on to give the locals the slight whiff of kitsch they depend on. This is one stretch of the BoCoCa intersection (Boerum Hill/Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens) that actually needed another low-key neighborhood hang.
