Profile

This venue is closed.

Twentysomethings clad in Sean John and fedoras—and their model-leggy companions—flock to this refurbished Victorian townhouse. Second-floor diners get the full Harlem Renaissance effect: velvet banquettes and framed James VanDerZee photographs. But the ground-floor bar is the place to hear live jazz and R&B, particularly when Wynton Marsalis pops up for an impromptu jam session. Other surprise guests have included Denzel Washington and, of course, Bill Clinton. Try toasting him with a Rhapsody in Blue ($9)—a smooth blend of Absolut Citron, Cointreau, blue curaçao, and lime juice—or a Sugar Hill ale ($6), from the Harlem Brewing Company.
