Profile

This addition to the Max Italian-food empire is a cozy café equipped with thrift-shop furnishings that invite the sort of post-dinner lingering that isn’t possible in its bustling sister restaurant up the street. And it’s open from 8 a.m. till midnight, serving pastries and frittate for breakfast and all-day nibbles like chicken-liver crostini, mortadella panini, and assorted antipasti, all priced between $3 and $8.

The food is consistently fresh and good. The prices are just rights and the staff is friendly. The Avocado Crostini is a must.
