Love Letters

Set the tone for your event with an elegant suite of stationery.

Hand-engraved invitation on 100 percent cotton paper by Tiffany & Company, from $615 for 100 with engraved envelopes (212-755-8000).

Monograms
Using a monogram at the top of an invitation is a relatively new trend. Historically, the only adornment on top of an invitation would have been the bride's family crest.

The Hosts
If the groom's parents are contributing to the cost of the wedding, then both sets of parents' names would be on the invitation. If the bride and groom are paying for it themselves, they would be the ones requesting your presence..

Proper Wording
Typically, honour is reserved for a wedding that takes place in a house of worship. Otherwise, it's preferable to say pleasure, even if a rabbi or a priest is officiating.

Dress Code
Listing black tie in the lower right-hand corner allows your guests to dress appropriately. However, you should avoid writing "black tie optional." An event is either black tie or it is not.
