Yankee Stadium
Date: Built in 1923.

Architects: Osborn Engineering Co.

Yankee Stadium in History: "The house that Ruth built" was essentially just that: an homage to the team's then-still-active best player, Babe Ruth, built by owner Colonel Jacob Ruppert. It's as if Steinbrenner decided to build a new stadium in honor of Derek Jeter.

Yankee Stadium Today: The Bronx locale has failed, over the years, to be revitalized, prompting the Yankees to threaten to leave. But now that they win the World Series most years, the idea of departing seems to have been scrapped.

Address: 161st St and River Ave (The Bronx)
