Where I Live
These young city dwellers
don’t just occupy their rooms, they’re at home in them.
Here’s what they think about their private worlds.

“Sometimes I feel really girly, and sometimes I feel really
tomboy,” says 16-year-old Kassandra Thatcher. “I’m
weird that way.” Weird or not, this internal conflict is reflected
in the way Kassandra decorated her room. While bold, red Ikea locker-style
cabinets line one wall and her bed converts to a minimal red sofa,
a pink leather chair that belonged to her great-grandmother is the
place to flop. “I like pink,” she explains. “It
expresses so many feelings; it’s peaceful and quiet but
happy and energetic at the same time.”
